Welcome to Shangrila Resort and Restaurant Murree

Established in 1983, Shangrila Resort Hotel in Skardu, Baltistan, quickly earned its nickname "Heaven on Earth" due to its breathtaking beauty and serene atmosphere. Founded by Brigadier (Retired) Muhammad Aslam Khan, the first commander of the Northern Scouts, who played a vital role in liberating the Northern areas in 1948.

Inspired by James Hilton's novel "Lost Horizon," Shangrila derived its name from the fictional paradise described in the book. Situated in the Northern Areas of Pakistan, this region boasts remarkable attractions, including the mighty K-2 peak, Deosai Plains—known as the longest, widest, and highest plateau in the world—and the meandering River Indus, adorned with stunning valleys, glaciers, wildlife, forests, and ancient monuments dating back centuries.
