Senior Plastic Surgeon Professor Tahir Khan and his team opened their first and most modern 120-bed Burns and Plastic Surgery Center in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018. Work on the Burns and Trauma Center began in 2011 with funding from the federal government and the Workers Welfare Board (WWB).
In the 120-bed center, 50 beds are reserved for burn patients and the rest for patients in need of plastic surgery and reconstruction services. The center has an eight-bed ICU, 12 beds for men and women with severe burns and 12 beds for children. There are eight operating theaters, two for trauma and burns (large and minor) and four for election cases. The center provides services six days a week and uses all available resources to provide the best quality services under one roof.
The Burns and Plastic Surgery Center is the first public sector hospital to provide round-the-clock services to people suffering from various burns. The Burns and Plastic Surgery Center provides nutritionist, psychiatric, physiotherapy related services for OPD and inpatients. The Burns and Plastic Surgery Center provides emergency services to trauma patients related to plastic surgery.
