GMAT is known as graduate management admission test that is needed for business school application process. It is computer based, multi choice standardized exam that is used globally to take admission in graduating programs. It was developed and administered by test maker GMAC to measure all student of business on standard level of education. Usually business schools look forward your GMAT score, experience, academic record and other supporting materials.

GMAT sections

GMAT test is used to measure you performance in basic algebra, geometry, arithmetic, grammar and multi-source data an analysis. They also measure your ability to analyze the material provided, your critical thing problem solving and written capacity. There are basically 4 different types of GMAT sections but all the section need analytical and critical thinking through the test that is needed in MBA course .there are four scored sections among which two are scored separately but it is also combine in composite. The four section of GMAT are integrated reasoning, quantitative, analytical writing, assessment and verbal. Thy can also choose the order in which they want to take GMAT test. The two sections that are scored separately are analytical writing assessment and integrated reasoning. Analytical writing assessment is scored from 0 to 6 in half point increments and integrated reasoning section is scored from 1 to 8 in one point increment. The verbal and quantitative section is scored on scale of 0-60. It is than combined to generate a scale of 200- 800 that has 10 point increment. The mean score for verbal is 27 for quantitative it is 39 for analytical writing it is 4.4 and for integrated reasoning it is 4.2. Verbal and quantitative score have the most weightage for admissions.

In analytical writing assessment there is one time task that is analysis of the argument and you get 30 minutes to fulfill the task. Through this task they measure your writing skills. The essay you  wrote is scored by computer and human grader. Later on both are combined to obtain the average score that is final score in this section. The integrated reasoning section contain multi source reasoning question, two part analysis questions, table analysis question and graphics interpretation questions total time for the question is 30 minutes. The quantitative sections contain data sufficiency questions, problem solving questions and time provided for this section is 62 minutes. In this section they basically test you algebra arithmetic, geometry and some basics of mathematics concept. Verbal section consists of reading comprehension questions, critical reasoning question and sentence correction. The total time needed for this section is 65 minutes.

GMAT Scoring system and timing

It is computer based test it measures your performance when you are taking test. When you start the computer automatically assumes that you are average scorer so provide with medium difficult question if you start answering more right answer it will automatically start giving you difficult question. If you start answering in correctly it will automatically serve you easy question. Your score is measured on an algorithm that calculates your ability level on basis of right and wrong and also on difficulty level.

GMat test is considered hard because of the computer adaptive format you cannot skip the questions you need to answer the question only than you can move on. For ever right question you will rewarded for more difficult question. There will be certain questions in the test that you have never seen before in your academic career. The total approximate time given is around 3 hours and 30 minutes.
