Metro Train Lahore was the first and unique project of Pakistan provided by the Chinese Government to the Punjab Government under a soft-loan agreement. The Orange Line Metro Train Lahore will run on a 27.1 km of track, construction of over 25 km elevated and 1.7 km long underground portion of the Lahore Metro Train track will be completed in 27 months approx. The total estimated cost of Orange Line Metro is Rs 165 billion (US $1.65 billion, Rs 150 billion will be provided by the Chinese Government to Punjab Government and Lahore Orange Train will be expected to be completed at the end of 2017.

 The service of Orange Line Train will initially benefit around 250,000 passengers a day. According to Mian Shahbaz Sharif Punjab Government was spending huge resources on the provision of safe, comfortable and economical transport facilities to the masses. He said that completion of Lahore Orange Train Project in the provincial metropolis would bring a revolutionary change in transport culture.

The proposed Metro Train Lahore stops/ stations and route map are Ali Town, Niaz Baig,Canal View, Hanjarwal, Wahdat, Awan Town, Sabzazar, Shahnoor, Salahudin, Bund, Samanabad, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Chauborji, Lake Road, Central, Lakshami, Railway station, Sultanpura, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Baghbanpura, Shalimar Gardens, Mint, Mahmood, Salamatpura,Islam Park, and Dera Gujran.
